To anyone undertaking a significant project that requires a large number of paper to be collated, for example systematic reviews, we ask that you contact the Medical Library in advance of making your requests.
We can work out a service that is tailored to your needs to help ensure that the supply of articles meets your expectations, and can perhaps support your work in other wasy too.
For any significant project the following service standards will apply over and above the normal Document Delivery Service Standards.
A departmental or project account will be set up with the Medical Library to manage the billing process. The project team will supply a list of individuals who can make charges to this account.
The frequency of billing can be negotiated to ensure a timely process.
Signed copyright declarations will be supplied by all the staff listed on the account, with up-to-date details of email delivery (if supplying by SED) or full postal address
Time scale of project and estimated number of requests will be discussed with the Document Delivery Team, and agreement will be reached about realistic completion date for supply of each set of requests.
The best system of submitting the list of requests will be negotiated and agreed.
Lists of articles will be processed and charged for depending on the option selected by the project team:
- Cost of supplying articles from stock or from other libraries
If the article can be supplied from Medical Library stock, either in paper or electronically, supply by Document Delivery team will be charged for at standard £3/£6 rate
If article can be supplied from Medical Library stock, either in paper or electronically, but the project team prefer to copy/download themselves, the list will be annotated accordingly, and returned to the project.
Self-service copying/scanning facilities are available at cost of 5p/ 3p per page respectively.
Training will be available to support project staff gain the skills to find the papers in the Medical Library.
If the article cannot be supplied from Medical Library stock, supply from another library will be charged for at a rate of £3 for University staff, £6 for NHS staff.
- Collation services
If the project team wish tjhe Document Delivery team to collate all the papers supplied from other libraries to ensure quality and accuracy, this can be done at an increased cost of £3.50/£6.50 per paper.
Papers will be supplied in sensible batch numbers/ or on a weekly basis, as agreed with the project team.
If the project team do not wish the Document Delivery team to do collation work, the papers will be delivered as and when direct from the supplying library.
