Last week, we moved back into our ‘new’ old home in the freshly renovated Medical Library. Each day since then we’ve been introducing you to one new corner of the library per day. Today it’s time to get to know our Learn spaces. These are the rooms where teaching, training and support of your study and research take place.
Our group training room — now known as the Learn space — is where we teach hands-on, practical sessions on everything from literature searching to critical appraisal, reference management to writing for publication. If you want to book a place, the dates and times of upcoming sessions can be found here. We schedule group training on a rolling basis throughout the year, so if you cannot make a session at the moment, it’s probably worth bookmarking this link so that you’ll be aware of future sessions.
In addition to the group training room, we now have a dedicated room where we conduct one-to-one training sessions. These can be tailored to your individual needs, and allow for more time to get down to the specifics of your own particular research question. We can help with anything from coming up with search terms to find the literature on your specific area of research, suggesting relevant databases and helping you search them, or answering your questions regarding reference management software, citations and bibliographies.
As you can see, we’ve brightened up the room as much as possible with posters and plants! We look forward to seeing you for training soon. Contact librarytraining@medschl.cam.ac.uk for more information, or to book a place.
