Medical LibraryFrom 15th July 2016 to May 2017, the Clinical School will be closed for refurbishment.
The Medical Library will also be undergoing a refurbishment during this closure, and so library services will be transferred to the temporary location of “Bay 13”, (the part of the old LMB closest to the entrance roundabout).
We will be in reduced circumstances – a small study room with University and NHS computers and wifi, and a small library which is where you will collect and return library books – but still very much able to support your education, research and clinical care.
Library training and support for literature searching will still be available – particularly one-to-one sessions and literature searching on your behalf will be continuing as normal.
Key points:
- The Library will be closed on Saturday 16th July 2016, to facilitate transfer for furniture, books and equipment.
- Monday 18th July 2016 services will start in “Bay 13” – please be patient while we settle in.
- Library services will available as normal in “Bay 13”:
- Monday – Friday: 08:00 – 21:50
- Saturday: 09:00 – 16:50

- Book fetching:
The whole book collection cannot be relocated, so if you tell us the books you need by 9am each morning, we will fetch them, ready for you to collect by 12noon the same day.

As an extension of services to this group, students on placement at CUHT (eg student nurses, radiotherapists, physiotherapists, etc) can now borrow books.
Any student already registered with us should come to the library (08:00 -17:30 Mon-Fri) to update their membership from “non-borrower” to “borrower”. - Document Delivery – online request and payment:
Rather than expecting you to come to the library every time you need to order a journal article, we now have an online form and payment system.

- Book fetching:
The refurbished Clinical School building will have an increased number of teaching and meeting rooms, an e-learning suite, extended student common room and catering in a reconfigured staff common room. The opportunity is also being taken to update heating and ventilation systems and redecorate.
The refurbished Medical Library will have an increased number of study spaces and more variety of seating to facilitate group work.
