We’re getting the “new” library ready for you, so thought we’d give a sneak preview of what it will look like. There are some familiar bits of furniture, but not necessarily placed where we had them in June 2016.
We’re creating 3 new spaces – “Share“, “Shhh…“, “Read“.
We’re getting a whole load of new furniture to put in the Share space, so that you can work together and collaborate. There’s plenty of space for us to fill:
Yes, for those of you with good spatial awareness, we did used to have a massive staircase. It’s been removed and we’ll be making good use of the space for collaborative work.
… and there’s more new furniture on order for the Share space here (remember that lovely view of the carpark?)
Shh will be a place where you can get your head down and do some serious work.
The Shh space will have new furniture too (yes, we’ll clear out the boxes, don’t worry!).
It’s not all new furniture – we’re making good use of some of the old furniture too, but while the furniture is familiar, we’ve put it in different places….
The Read space gives access to all our books, and a mix of different study space.
We’ve still got the group study pods — but now located near the books, in the Read space.
There are lots more individual study spaces, again near the books in the Read space.
These small desks might look familiar, but the view is different…
Lots of comfy seats, relocated to the “Read” space:
All these changes came about through consultation with you — the library users
We hope you’ll like the new look Medical Library — we’re certainly looking forward to seeing you from 09:00 on Monday, 1st May, 2017.
