We are very pleased to announce that we have developed a new Medical Library training course which focuses on reflective practice. Although it is aimed at NHS staff, all are very welcome to attend.
Being a reflective practitioner is an important skill to have, but it doesn’t always come naturally. It’s an essential requirement for people in a variety of professions, particularly healthcare, where it plays an important role in decision making and patient care. For nurses undertaking revalidation, reflective writing is a key component of the process, but reflective writing is likely to be of relevance to those in other healthcare professions as well.
Our interactive workshop will help you to understand the theory of reflective practice and how to translate this into your everyday role. It will provide tips for overcoming barriers to carrying out reflection and how to deal with feedback as well as offering a brief introduction to reflective writing.
There are currently two sessions scheduled for this course: the first is on 28 November from 10-11.30am, and we’ll repeat it again on 10 December from 10-11.30am. If you can’t make it to either of these sessions, we will definitely be repeating it again, so bookmark our group training page or follow us on Twitter to be notified about upcoming sessions. If you have a Raven login you can book your own place on this course, and if not, contact us at librarytraining@medschl.cam.ac.uk and we will book a place for you. If you and your colleagues or department are interested in being trained in reflective practice as a group, we are very happy to do so — just email us so we can arrange it.
We look forward to see you at our reflective practice training sessions soon.
