Our resource of the month for October was reference management software. With so many new postgraduate students starting courses at this time of the year, we wanted to make sure everyone started with as much preparation as possible — and using tools to keep track of your references and cite them correctly is a really good first step to take. Of course, these tools are useful for everyone doing research, whatever stage of their degree or project they are in — it’s never too late to start using these time-saving resources.
We also wanted to get recommendations and tips from you: what referencing software did you use, and how were you using it?
First up was Mendeley, which works particularly well if you want to research collaboratively.
Today we're recommending Mendeley – a free reference manager, particularly useful if you want to collaborate with other researchers on your referencing. Install it here: https://t.co/p1UIRJpfd7 #resourceofthemonth

In the next week, we recommended Endnote, a great reference manager with a particular strength in helping you access full text articles efficiently and quickly.
We always like to get your recommendations, so it’s particularly nice to see your recommendation matches our own for today: Endnote, a reference manager that really works for you in helping you access full-text articles. It’s not free, but it’s installed on all library computers. pic.twitter.com/rkEkORY8vI

The next week, we highlighted Zotero, which has a straightforward, simple interface which works in the same way with imports from all databases and websites.
Our #resourceofthemonth is reference management software. We always like to see that our recommendations match your own — such as this endorsement of Zotero, a free, open source browser extension that makes saving references really straightforward. pic.twitter.com/OOCLFY37CY
