This week, we welcomed you back to the newly renovated Medical Library, and it’s been wonderful to see you making good use of it at all times of day. For the next week, we’re introducing you to one new corner of the library. You’ve already seen the Share space (great for group work) and the Shhh space (perfect for silent, focused study), and today it’s time to meet the Read space. This sits somewhere between the silence of the Shhh space and the conversation of the Share space — some noise is permissible, but longer, more involved conversations should be taken to the Share space.
There are plenty of desks for you to really get stuck into your study.
There are also spaces with comfy couches, for when you want a more relaxed environment.
We want you to feel as comfortable as if you were sitting in your own living room…
Best of all, working in this room means you’re close to all the books — feel free to browse the shelves and read or borrow freely.
The book fetching service that we set up during the move to Bay 13 will continue, with the same rules applying: get your requests in by 9am on a weekday, and we will fetch the book(s) for you by midday and reserve them for you at the enquiry desk. Of course, you do not have to make use of the fetching service, as all books are now freely available on the shelves, but if you feel it would save you time to have your books fetched and ready for you before you arrive at the library for a day of studying, you are welcome to put in a request.
