Email Direct is a method of secure electronic delivery (SED) of documents as an Adobe PDF file direct to your desktop.
Post Direct delivers documents by post direct to you – no need to come to the library to collect them!
Most documents requested as photocopies will be delivered in one of these 2 ways.
Who can use the service?
Any one who requests articles!
Make sure your computer is compatible if you prefer the Email Direct option.
(NB these services only apply to journal article requests – books and whole issues of journals will still need to be collected from the Medical Library.)
How do I submit a request?
- 1. check the library doesn’t give access to the journal you want in paper or electronic format – we’re happy to help with this – use Library Search and the NHS e-journal listings.
- 2. if you want electronic delivery of the article check that your computer is compatible (use the test document which is available from the British Library)
- 3. If successful and/or if you want the article posted, complete a request form (pdf versions available to download: University or MRC (pdf) or NHS (pdf)) and also a direct delivery registration form (pdf) (pdf version to download) – note: We need one request from per item, but only one registration form per person.
- 4. submit the forms to the Medical Llibrary and arrange payment (details of costs)
