Logins, cards and printing credit
In order to print in the Biomedical Campus Library, you will need:
- to be a registered library user
- have a University login
- have a valid library card physically available (as you must touch the card to the printer to release the print job)
- have credit on your account
Current University of Cambridge staff and students with valid blue University cards will already be registered with the library. Your University login is used when printing and adding credit to your account.
NHS staff will need to be registered members of the library.
- If you are not sure you have a current registration, please contact library@medschl.cam.ac.uk to confirm.
- If you have never registered with the library before, follow the steps on our registration page.
- As part of the registration process, you will be given information about how to set up your library login, and how to collect your library card. Both the login and card are required for printing.
Adding print credit, and web-based printing
Use the Managed Print Portal to add credit and print to the multi-functional devices (MFDs) in the Biomedical Campus Library. You can also view your transaction and print job history. These instructions take you through the process step-by-step. The name of the printer is MedLib_FindMe.
You must be connected to University Wi-Fi to use the portal, and web-based printing will only allow you to print A4, greyscale, 2-sided.
Printing from your own computer
Print directly using Print Deploy for colour and advanced printing options. You can do this directly from your own computer by following the instructions for Windows or for Mac.
Printing from a library computer
If you prefer to use Print Deploy from a library computer, you can do so from the University PCs, following these steps:
- On a Library computer, click the Print Deploy icon (green printer) in the bottom-right taskbar notification area and select View my printers
- In the pop-up window select Sign in with Microsoft, enter your login and authenticate
- Choose Add Printers from the sidebar
- You will see all printers in the University – use the search bar or scroll and install MedLib_FindMe
- Choose MedLib_FindMe when you print as usual from applications such as Office, or online
- Swipe your University or Library card at an MFD, and use the touchscreen to release the print job
You cannot print from the NHS computers in the library.
