Knowledge Harvesting is a structured approach to help an organisation understand and record the knowledge and experience of people, often before they leave or move roles. The different ways to capture this are explained on the Knowledge for Healthcare Knowledge Harvestingpage. The Department of Health have developed a template as a self-harvesting tool.
Karen Pile at a KM Conference in 2009 put forward the case for knowledge harvesting to be a continuous process and not just when staff are leaving.
